Londoners in hopeful possession of a bucket and spade can satisfy their castle-building urges with a trip to the Southbank Centre's urban beach. Installed along the Queen's Walk adjacent to the centre, the sandy stretch is designed for lounging, sunbathing and playing – and it also hosts an installation by James Bowthorpe. The artist has created a series of 'village' buildings cast in concrete and decorated with found materials from the Thames. For more information about the Festival of Neighbourhood see
