The National Trust launches their 'Uncovered' series with a weekend of activities at Ham House that use the beautiful, historic gardens to explore the history of the British landscape.
There are some fascinating talks from NT experts over the weekend. David Taylor, Curator of Pictures and Sculpture, will discuss a 10,000-boat pageant on the River Thames from the 17th century. Christine Sitwell, Paintings Conservation Advisor, will talk about how the camera obscura was used - after which visitors can have a go on Ham House's own version. And nature-lovers can listen to Pete Brash, Wildlife and Countryside Officer, describing what goes on in the Ham House meadow.
You can also go boating or just grab a picnic and stroll about the grounds.
