A retrospective of the furniture maker John Makepeace. Featuring work from the past 50 years, the exhibition charts Makepeace's career from the 1960s when, as a young designer influenced by modern Danish furniture, he began to design products for Heal's, Liberty and others, to recent pieces, some of which are made from a single tree. Makepeace was a founder trustee of the Crafts Council and set up Parnham College, which integrated the teaching of fine crafstmanship with modern design and entrepreneurship, and his abiding environmental concerns are reflected in his development of sustainable new technologies for furniture production. Exhibits include the 'Mitre' chair, made to celebrate the silver wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip.
