Hordes of Londoners have been turned into pod people. You see them everywhere –
on the tube with earbuds in, missing their stops because they’re immersed in an episode of ‘S-Town’. You meet them at parties, where they’ll share obscure facts about the whereabouts of ’90s fitness star Richard Simmons.
These are the podcast listeners, and there are around 4.7 million of them in the UK. You might even be one of them – in which case, you’d be foolish to miss the London Podcast Festival, which returns to King’s Place this week. The fest offers something new: a chance to break out of the audio bubble and take part in live recordings of your favourite shows. Podcast giants like the ‘My Dad Wrote a Porno’ crew will be sharing schlong jokes while true-crime podcast ‘Beyond Reasonable Doubt?’ will be recording its series finale at the King’s Cross venue. Pod person or not, this might just be on your wavelength. Find out more here.
