Mascots of the Olympic Games

A display of 50 mascots from the last 44 years of summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic Games – including Waldi the Dachshund, who appeared at Munich in 1972, and this year's mascots, Wenlock and Mandeville. The display looks at how mascots are shaped by national identity and make use of national symbols – like Sam the eagle from the 1984 LA Games – or are inspired by myth and legend, such as Athena and Phevos used in Athens in 2004.
