England plays host to the Rugby League World Cup this autumn, although we should probably refer to it as the World Cups, because for the first time in the sport’s history, the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments will all take place at the same time. As well as fixtures in Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield and a bunch of other northern locales where the sport is particularly popular, a handful of matches are scheduled to take place in the capital. East London’s Olympic venue the Copper Box Arena will host many of the wheelchair fixtures, while Arsenal’s home ground, the Emirates Stadium, will see some of the semi-final action in the men’s tournament. Even if you’re unfamiliar with rugby union’s northern cousin, with tickets from a tenner it’s definitely worth a try (pun absolutely intended).
