If you’re making an effort to be a little more mindful about what you put on your plate, then good news: so are the restaurants of Canary Wharf. Eco-friendly materials, locally sourced ingredients and sustainably caught seafood are par for the course across the dining options here; for example, the soon-to-open MMy Wood Wharf by Mercato Metropolitano runs The FarMM, which supports eco-agricultural initiatives. Wine-lovers should head to Humble Grape, which features 400-plus wines sourced from local, organic and biodynamic vineyards. And Pergola on the Wharf, in Crossrail Place, recently partnered with the eco-conscious Sapling Spirits to create a ‘Tree Planter’ cocktail. For every cocktail sold in June, Sapling planted a tree, which came to a total of 1,137! Enjoy a Sapling cocktail on Pergola On The Wharf’s vine-filled wrap-around terrace.

Isn’t street food, the food of the streets, just a little unbeatable? Small menus, experts doing things well, outdoor seats so you don’t have to worry about sticking things up your nose and mouth as often. Blissful. There’s loads of good street grub here. Whether you want some Korean goodness from Seoul Bird (Korean fried chicken and kimchi mac & cheese anyone?) or Greek food by geniuses Smashing Plates with a great build-your-own gyros style menu and other classic sides, you’re spoiled for choice.

Go on, treat yourself! At Six by Nico, chef Nico Simeone is back with his second London outpost, and an original concept. As the name suggests, it offers a tasting menu that changes every six weeks. You could arrive to find an entirely different theme and menu!

The theme is usually a location or memory, and there’s always a vegetarian set menu too. Until September, it’s an elevated version of a traditional chippie. Intrigued? You should be…
