We hope you’re feeling lucky, London. While international travel might be off the cards right now, we’re giving you the chance to bring the ultimate Singaporean experience to your home, in collaboration with Visit Singapore. You could win one of 10 Time In Singapore Experience boxes, which are not only packed with the calibre of world-class cuisine that Singapore is famed for, but also extra fun touches that will really ignite your passion for discovery. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?

Singaporean feast from Mei Mei

We love Mei Mei. This Borough Market restaurant, run by head chef Elizabeth Haigh (yep, that Elizabeth Haigh, the Singaporean-born Masterchef winner who went on to get a Michelin star at Pidgin in Hackney) is a real favourite of ours. It’s known for Singaporean comfort food, like Hainanese chicken rice, nasi lemak and – you guessed it – laksa. Winners will receive her Singapore laksa kit, which serves two and includes everything you need to recreate her fragrant, richly spiced dish at home. You’ll also get chicken curry, curry puffs and more (a vegetarian option is also available, with a vegetarian laksa and sayur lemak curry). A link to a video will be provided, with Haigh herself guiding you through the preparation process.

Drinks and dessert

We wouldn’t let you go thirsty! In addition to the feast from Mei Mei, we’ll also give you a classic cocktail, the Singapore Sling. This fruity gin-based cocktail comes with cute cocktail umbrellas and even roasted peanuts, just as it does at the world-famous Raffles bar in Singapore. For dessert, you’ll get to create local favourites kaya toast and sweet, strong kopi (coffee) using Nanyang Kopi Powder from Kopi House.

Decor and tunes

To really set the scene, we’re going to give you some table decorations and a link to a playlist curated by our trailblazing friends at Native Bar, winner of the 2019 Sustainable Bar Award at Asia’s 50 Best Bars. Brighten the scene with an authentic Singaporean coffee cup and strainer, laksa bowls, utensils and a gorgeous tea towel.

Reimagine your Singapore adventure

If you’re craving new discoveries and a healthy dose of inspiration, then you really should consider Singapore for your next big adventure. As a confluence of cultures and a hub for innovation and creativity, this forward-thinking nation is filled with ways to reignite your curiosity. Picture yourself marvelling at boundary-breaking architecture at the Marina Bay waterfront promenade or finding sanctuary at the verdant Gardens by the Bay (look out for the 30-metre high vertical gardens, called Supertrees). Singapore is world-famous for its food culture that astounds at any price point, whether you’re sampling the signature dish at Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice at hawker paradise Maxwell Food Centre or celebrating a special occasion that you missed during lockdown at one of Singapore’s many Michelin-starred restaurants. And if you can’t wait to spend all your time outdoors? Singapore’s a dream destination for beaches, jungle walks and rooftop bars overlooking glittering city lights. For a little taste of what to expect, feast your eyes on the below video about Singapore’s colourful Joo Chiat precinct.
