David Walliams has won awards, raised millions for charity and has been making us laugh since ‘Little Britain’ began in 2003. There’s no denying that he’s an extremely likeable chap. Now the friendly giant of a man is on a quest to recreate the ‘lightning bolt’ moment when he was 11 and realised he wanted to be an actor after playing the Queen in a school play.

It means staging a photograph of him together with boys playing his ladies-in-waiting, all of whom he’s trying to persuade to don dresses and stand in the same pose on the exact same stage as they did thirty years ago. Why? Well, other than to please Walliams, no reason at all, and whether or not he succeeds is irrelevant. We already know he’s a straight man who’s fond of dresses; the real interest comes in meeting his sister, going round his mum’s house and getting a glimpse of the real David Walliams.
