And so, the Brummie period gangster drama with hands-down the most attractive leading couple in the history of TV comes to an end. Tonight, the will-they, won’t-they shenanigans involving Tommy (Cillian Murphy) and Grace (Annabelle Wallis) have to jostle for space with a climactic battle as the Kimber mob look ripe for a takedown. But might the fiendish (and for our money, slightly underused) Billy change the terms of the battle?

Elsewhere, Sam Neill’s Campbell has gone off the rails following Grace’s rejection – but might this make him a more dangerous adversary than ever? A grubbily enjoyable series despite its occasionally studied exterior; ‘Peaky Blinders’ has been as stylised as British TV gets, but never at the expense of content. We’d welcome a return visit and the door has been left just about open…
