We suppose everyone’s got to make a living. But even so, it’s something of a surprise to see semi-legendary football pundit James Richardson presenting this feast of stone dragging, truck pushing and lumber manhandling.
This year ‘World’s Strongest Man’ – a festive staple which has been making us feel faintly queasy while slumped on our sofas for many years now – comes from Melbourne. What we have here are qualifiers: the event peaks, as ever, around Christmas. Expect events including Farmer’s Walk and the Super Yoke and look out for a tremendously-named fella called Derek Poundstone. Always surprisingly good fun.
