Vive la France! On July 14, France will celebrate Bastille Day, a national holiday commemorating the Storming of the Bastille in 1789. To honor the day, a slew of French restaurants and bakeries around LA will be offering special dishes and drinks. No, you do not have to be French to partake in these specials. Yes, you should definitely figure out how to pronounce "tartiflette" before you order it. We've heard wine helps with accents.

Avec Nous: Dine at Avec Nous on Bastille Day and you'll receive a complimentary whole oven-roasted cauliflower, prepared with vadouvan curry, marcona almonds and a golden raisin purée.

Le Petit Paris: Head over to Le Petit Paris for a Bastille Day fête (July 14, 5-8pm), where your $24 entrance fee will include two drinks, an amuse-bouche buffet and live music.

Pitchoun Bakery: Stop by the Downtown French bakery from now until July 17 and pick up a patriotic treat, from red, white and blue chocolate eclairs to a Lyonnaise tartine with poached eggs, which are not normally on the menu. On your way to a Bastille Day party? Pick up Pitchoun's macaron box or a boxed selection of three French wines to share.

Terrine: While Terrine won't be offering a prix-fixe menu like they did last year, the restaurant is cooking up some Bastille Day specials that include Merguez lamb sausages with frites; bouillabaisse with cod, prawns, mussels, potatoes and rouille toast; and three one-off cocktails: a French 89, an absinthe frappé and the Normandie cocktail (Calvados, Dolin Blanc Vermouth, orange bitters).

L'Ami: Splurge on a three-course menu for $45 at this charming French eatery, where you can choose from a selection of appetizers, entrées and a dessert du jour, including jambon melon, hanger steak and pappardelle pasta.

Bouchon: From 4-8pm on Bastille Day, Bar Bouchon will be celebrating with a special à la carte menu that includes roasted lamb leg sandwiches, Bouchon's hot dog, truffle popcorn, beignets with nutella and more, along with beer and wine specials.

Church & State: This year, the Downtown French bistro will be offering exclusive Bastille Day dishes in the form of tartiflette (think: French mac and cheese), Lyonnaise salad, trout almondine and duck confit. Pair with a bottle of wine and you'll be feeling the French spirit in no time.
