It's been four years since we've seen a major music event at Los Angeles State Historic Park, and after its handsome renovation we thought that might be it for grass-flattening, dust-kicking concerts. But between this month's Skyline festival and this latest announcement, music is back at the park in a big way.
Interpol is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its lauded debut, Turn on the Bright Lights, with a series of shows in Europe, and they've just announced an extra date here at the L.A. State Historic Park on September 30. According to the band's website, they'll be playing the album in its entirety. Throw in supporting sets from Deerhunter and Battles, and you have the makings of a must-see concert.
We'll defer to FYF's Instagram account—FYF and Goldenvoice are presenting the show—whose "holy shit" post seems like the most appropriate reaction to the announcement.
FYF, which spent five years at the former "cornfield," first teased the announcement with a #notfyffest post of the park on its Instagram. Of course, that just sparked a flood of comments from FYF fans (count us among them) who wish they could see the music festival return to the Chinatown location instead of Exposition Park.
L.A. State Historic Park will have its first reacquaintance with a music festival atmosphere during this month's Skyline, with sets from Miike Snow, Duke Dumont, Lido, Eden, Michl, Elohim and Jason Bentley.
Tickets go on sale for Interpol on Friday, May 5 at 10am, with a limited presale on Thursday at 10am. Tickets start at $59.50.
