Robertson Plaza is getting a makeover as a dining destination

There was a time when Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood was the place to go for some of L.A.’s best shopping, but lately it’s been eclipsed by strips like Melrose and Abbot-Kinney. Now the neighborhood looks like might be angling to make a comeback, starting with an overhaul of the sprawling Robertson Plaza as a hip dining destination.

The almost-200,000-square-foot Robertson Plaza looked pretty spiffy and modern when it opened in 1966, but, over the years, it seems to have lost a bit of its Jet Age luster. As Eater L.A. reports, a massive remodel may help bring a bit of that glamour back.

Tenants already confirmed for the 2018 opening of the revived plaza include an outpost of the ever-popular Blue Bottle Coffee, and the first L.A. location of the Henry, a concept by Sam Fox, the Arizona-based restaurateur behind True Food Kitchen, Flower Child and other chains. The Henry, which will be offering all-day New American dining bills itself as “a modern ode to Gatsby-era grace.” Rumor also has it that another space will be taken by a new cocktail bar to be called Bibo, along with a few other to-be-announced vendors.

One thing we don’t expect to see is the proposed Bottega Louie location that was supposed to be coming to Robertson Boulevard. That project, which would have gone into the space now becoming the Henry, appears to be on hold indefinitely, according to the L.A. Times.
