The Hammer Museum is not messing around this fall. While Angelenos have been sitting around planning their Halloween costumes, the Hammer has been hard at work planning four months of programming for its new series, In Real Life: 100 Days of Film and Performance. As the name suggests, the museum will host a variety of performances and film screenings from September 13 through January 25, 2017.
The video and film series will take place at the Hammer's Billy Wilder Theater and is broken down into four thematic programs, which are as follows:
Artists' Film International: Sept 13—Oct 15
Ecco: The Videos of Oneohtrix Point Never and Related Works: Oct 18–Nov 19
How to Love a Watermelon Woman: Nov 22–30 and Dec 20–31
The Workshop Years: Black British Film and Video After 1981: Jan 3–25, 2017
In addition to the film series, there is In Real Life: Performance, which will showcase new and re-staged works in various disciplines, including theater, dance, comedy and experimentation. For a full performance schedule, click here.
Lastly, there's the In Real Life: Studio. Here, audiences will get a glimpse into the featured artists' work process. Throughout the four months, groups of artists will come together to either rehearse new work or discuss their work and process. Again, featured artists will be from a variety of disciplines.
The series is free and open to the public, so if you're into the artists and you're looking for something to do in the next four months, the Hammer has you covered.
