Tiki comes to town in a big way this summer as the Spare Room hosts its "An Evening of Tiki" series. Beginning this May, bar director Yael Vengroff will welcome big-name bartenders from across the globe to join her behind the bar each month to dole out tiki creations, accompanied by island-themed music and (we hope) lots of floral shirts and bad puns.

The first bartender on this year's lineup is Micah Melton from the Aviary in Chicago, who'll be tending bar this Wednesday, May 17. The rest of this summer's lineup is as follows:

June 15: Sly Augustin, William Pineapple and Erik Holmberg from Trailer Happiness in London

July 12: Chad Austin and Tony Martinez from Bootlegger Tiki in Palm Springs

August 9: Anu and Chris Elford from Navy Strength in Seattle

September 6: Jillian Vose and Jessica Friedman from Dead Rabbit in New York City

Hopefully the traveling tiki masters will give L.A.'s tiki scene a run for its money; this city could stand some new (permanent!) tropical cocktail offerings. We expect Spare Room's tiki evenings will be popular, so email reservations@spareroomhollywood.com to book a table in advance.
