Friday

If you can spare a few minutes during your day (and happen to work Downtown), then celebrate Earth Day LA. Tour Grand Park's sustainable landscaping, demo electric vehicles, drop off e-waste and join a yoga boot camp. If you live within the city of LA, free trees will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Work up the courage to walk through a monster museum and artists' creepy creations at the annual Monsterpalooza. More than 200 vendors will be at the Pasadena Convention Center to show off masks, makeup, effects and collectibles.

Later on in the evening, behold the majesty of the Amazing Acro-Cats, a troupe of more than a dozen cats (former orphans, rescues and strays) that dazzles feline-loving audiences with its circus-inspired routine. The cats "perform"—when they feel like it—at North Hollywood's El Portal Theatre through next weekend.

Saturday

Head to the Annenberg Space for Photography on Saturday morning for the opening of Refugee. The timely installation is putting its focus on the global refugee crisis with five acclaimed photographers' stunning images from around the world.

Not heading out to the second weekend of Coachella? Save a few bucks and check out the Broke LA Music & Arts Festival. More than 50 emerging LA acts will take over four music stages and one comedy showcase at the Arts District's Imperial Art Studios; up-and-coming bands include the Fontaines, DWNTWN, StéLouse, BlackGummy and more.

Motor your way over to the Petersen Automotive Museum, which has just put the original Back to the Future DeLorean on display. To celebrate, the museum is hosting an Enchantment Under the Sea Dance & Party with appearance from Missing Persons (of "Nobody Walks in LA" fame) and BTTF tribute band the Flux Capacitors.

Speaking of nostalgic movies, say vaya con Dios to Point Break Live as the over-the-top comedy show begins its final string of performances. The ludicrous lampoon of the 1991 Swayze-Reeves cult classic film will wrap up its run in June after nearly a decade.

Sunday

Discover the restrained expressionism of painter Agnes Martin on Sunday as LACMA opens its retrospective. Trace the development of this pioneering abstract artist's mesmerizing grids and striped canvases.

Later on, drop it like it's hot at the Forum with Kush Groove, KDAY's annual hip-hop concert featuring Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Chingy and more.

Alternatively, wrap up the weekend at the Satellite for a set from Neil Hamburger. "America's Funnyman" slings some of the worst jokes imaginable—all part of a character from Gregg Turkington; Natasha Leggero guests on this month's show.
