If you find yourself anywhere near West Hollywood this weekend, you’ll likely notice that the area is even more crowded and colorful than usual. LA Pride 2016 is filling the neighborhood with festivities, which also means street closures, transportation alternatives and lots to know before you go.
Street Closures
Most street closures will be during the day on Sunday for the parade but some areas start shutting down as early as Thursday, so be sure to check your route. Closures include the following:
San Vicente Blvd (between Melrose Ave and Santa Monica Blvd): 7pm on Thursday, June 9, to 10am on Monday, June 13
Santa Monica Blvd (between Fairfax Ave and Doheny Dr): 5am to 5pm on Sunday, June 12
Crescent Heights Blvd (between Romaine St and Fountain Ave): 5am to 5pm on Sunday, June 12
Norton Ave (between Havenhurst and Laurel drives): Closed 5am to 5pm on Sunday, June 12
All streets one block north and one block south of Santa Monica Blvd (between Fairfax Ave and Doheny): 5am to 5pm on Sunday, June 12
Parking and Transportation
To ease congestion and encourage responsible party-going, the Pride Ride shuttle will be running a safe and free bus service with three routes hitting 15 stops in each direction (east and west) around WeHo on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (map below). Metro will also be delivering riders directly to the festival via several bus routes.
If driving and parking in the area is on your agenda, it’s worth noting that some garages in the area will be closed, however, resident permit enforcement will be suspended starting 4pm on Friday.
