Friday

Make your way Downtown Los Angeles to the Ahmanson Theatre for The Art of Falling. Two of Chicago's acclaimed cultural institutions, the Second City and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, join together for this comedy and contemporary dance show.

Stick around until midnight for the return of Sleepless: The Music Center After Hours. Watch as the cultural institution transforms into an interactive performance space with live music, pillow case silkscreening, dancing in the Founders Room and more. Though RSVPs are closed out for the free event, a limited number of walk-up spots will be available.

If you're shut out of Sleepless, then celebrate Diddy's birthday instead. UCB Franklin is hosting Diddy's All Star Surprise Birthday Jamboree, a fake birthday party with parody appearances from the entire '90s and aughts Bad Boy family.

Saturday

Knock back craft ciders from some top-notch suppliers on Saturday at the Hard Core Cider Tour. Cider Brothers, Rambling Route Cider and 101 Cider House, among others, will hit up Brookside Park in Pasadena for an afternoon of live music, jumbo lawn games and food trucks.

Afterwards, stock up on must-haves and support local artisans at Eastside Handmade. Hosted by Highland Park's Shopclass, the annual indie pop-up market features a number of local artists and designers, spotlighting unique home accessories, jewelry, pottery, paintings, photography, paper goods and more.

Keep your shopping streak going and satisfy your midcentury obsession at the SHAG Store grand opening. Artist Josh Agle, better known as Shag, has expanded his Palm Springs showroom into this new Melrose space. Stop by the opening party for free drinks and a chance to buy "995 Skyline Drive," a discounted special release print.

Cap off your night at the Live Art Supper Club for an evening of great food and stunning live art. The Venice Pop Up Park, a temporary space on Abbot Kinney, will host the Los Angeles-based gallery Art Unified along with chef Vince Howard for a five-course meal (alcohol included).

Sunday

Adopt your new best friend at the annual Best Friends NKLA Super Adoption. Over 1,000 dogs and cats will be up for adoption at the La Brea Tar Pits during this two-day, low-cost rescue event.

See future box-office hits as well as niche, indie gems at the 29th annual AFI Fest. The weeklong festival hosts free screenings all over Hollywood; today's highlights include Men Go To Battle and Dheepan at the Chinese 6 Theatres.

Close out your weekend atop the Montálban Theatre on Vine one last time for a rooftop screening of Sunset Boulevard. Rooftop Film Club will provide the headphones, chairs and cozy blankets—since we're all about pretending that it's fall.
