Three weeks into the new year and your resolutions are feeling about as stale as the leftover holiday fudge you pretend not to nibble on every day. If ever there were a time to take a break from the agony, it's for DineLA, the semi-annual 12-day dining event, where more than 250 of the city's top restaurants offer special prixe fixe menus, most of which cost less than a class at SoulCycle. Multi-course lunches are priced at $15, $20 or $25, while dinners are priced at $25, $35 or $45.

This year, the program is offering a contest: take a pic of your dish, post it on Instagram with the hashtag #dineLA and be entered to win a dining prize. The 25 restaurants with the most popular dishes on Instagram will win 2013 Diner's Choice. Snap a food pic at new venues to the program, such as the Parish, Picca and Red O, or at old favorites like Craft, Katsuya and Water Grill. No matter where you go, it's a good excuse to try something new, revisit someplace old and, best of all, skip the gym.
