NYC's Milk Bar is popping up in L.A. with Jon & Vinny's and the NoMad Truck

Some collabs are a match made in heaven. We’re so there for a chance to enjoy Christina Tosi’s craveable Milk Bar treats, but throw in some Jon & Vinny’s pizza or a truffled chicken burger from the NoMad Truck, and we’ll gladly don our stretchy pants.

In some food news that almost sounds too good to be true, we all have not one but two opportunities to sink our teeth into Milk Bar’s sweets before the NYC-based—but internationally-beloved—bakery launches its first West Coast operation next year: Next Friday you’ll find birthday cake truffles and cookies in the backyard of one of the city’s best Italian restaurants, and on the following Sunday, complementing the NoMad Truck’s menu at Smorgasburg.

Let’s face it, an ambiguous “early 2018” opening is just too far off when it comes to cookies, truffles and corn-flake-topped cereal-milk soft serve, which is why we advise you to kick off next weekend most deliciously with a December 15 bake sale at Jon & Vinny’s, where you can expect crafts, games, photos and Milk Bar sweets—including these birthday cake truffles—from 3 to 9pm, or until the goods sell out.

Bookend your weekend with a trip to Smorgasburg at ROW DTLA on December 17. Tosi herself will have special cereal-milk soft-serve sundaes and a limited-edition holiday cookie at the ready from 10am to 4pm to enjoy alongside goods from the NoMad Truck; it’s one of the last times you’ll be to catch Daniel Humm’s lauded food truck before NoMad Hotel’s own 2018 launch. (If you’re looking to preview the NoMad’s bar program, there’s a pop-up for that, too.) Expect Milk Bar cookie tins, peppermint cornflake chocolate chip cookies, cookbooks and other giftable items—perfect, considering this weekend is a Smorgasburg holiday market, to boot. Pro tip: Get there early, because the first 50 customers receive free Milk Bar totes.

No, we’re not concerned that two Milk Bar events in one weekend will spoil our appetite for that forthcoming, nearly-4,000-square-foot storefront along Melrose, but thanks for your concern.

L.A.’s first Milk Bar is set to open at 7150 Melrose Avenue in early 2018.
