While Madrid restaurants temporarily remain closed, they're involved in various charity projects (such as World Central Kitchen) and busy supporting initiatives they've joined (Salvemos Nuestros Restaurantes, #DaremosLaCara). And closer to home, some have taken steps like cautiously opening their doors via home delivery services. If you're salivating for some great food prepared by stellar chefs, you've come to the right place. We give you some of the best dishes (from sushi to gourmet pasta, paellas and burgers) you can order up when you're in the mood to support your favourite restaurant or you want to eat well but just don't feel like cooking.

Chef Safe Cruz (who's earned a Michelin star for his restaurant Gofio) has come up with a new project in Madrid. Of course it's cuisine from the Canary Islands, but with a creative and more casual air. So you get the indisputable high quality we've come to expect from Cruz with El Lagar, and home delivery to boot. If you're lucky enough to be within a 4km raidus of Gofio, where El Lagar operates, you can get their 'chicken with everything' croquettes, cheesecake made with Canarian majorero cheese and paprika, and other tempting delights. Order via their special delivery website.

Mario Payán has decided to open his exquisite restaurant for deliveries, from Thursday to Saturday, from 7pm to 10.30pm. Without the face-to-face experience with his customers while he carefully cuts fish or creates a nigiri, he's instead opted to offer his Japanese cuisine to all of Madrid wherever Glovo or a taxi can take it. The menu is dynamic, and the market dictates the dishes now more than ever. But you've got sashimi, nigiri, urakami and even salmon tataki to choose from. And it's all superb. Ring 91 042 00 66 to place your order (daily orders are limited) and pay with Bizum.

Why not dig in to a Sunday paella made for you with only the top produce by a master of the craft? Only a few months ago, José Luis García-Berlanga, son of the popular Spanish filmmaker Luis García Berlanga, opened (and then temporarily closed) his first restaurant. But the closure slowed things down only for a few weeks, and his amazing paellas are being served via home delivery. On the Berlanga website you'll find a variety of Spanish Mediterranean paellas and rice dishes. Make your choice and ring 91 391 68 86 or 649 166 310 to place your order, or you can order by email: restaurante@restauranteberlanga.com.

If their own delivery service doesn't extend to your area (see the post codes where they go), then Glovo will. The delivery cost is €3.50 for orders under €30 and it's free for orders over €30. On their website you'll find all Fabio's pinsas, which are famous in the neighbourhood and beyond, but you'll also find some tempting pasta dishes like the paccheri with veal ragù. Unfortunately, because of how it's made, you won't be able to try their carbonara from the comfort of your dining room, so be sure to make a note to get some when they reopen.

The Kabuki Group (with seven restaurants in Spain and four Michelin stars to its name) is on the move. From its space in the Wellington Hotel, the group's most informal eatery, Kirei by Kibuki, has started a home delivery service in conjunction with Deliveroo (though some customers send taxis to pick up their meals as well). They've got set menus that come to around €30 per person, traditional maki and creative nigiri. Check their Facebook page (and the hashtag ‪#‎yomequedoencasaconkireibykabuki‬) to see what you have to choose from and consult their kitchen and delivery times.

Ham croquettes, cod fritters, 'patatas bravas', boneless chicken wings in sweet chile sauce, Madrid-style sow's ear... A good part of the regular menu from Iván Sáez's second restaurant in town can be ordered to your dining room table without your having to leave the house. You can go in and pick it up if you want, though, but only if you live nearby, or Glovo will bring it to you. You will need to plan ahead, as they need 24 hours advance notice. Ring 91 232 22 04 or send a WhatsApp message to 654 849 491 to place your order.

For anyone who misses Fabrizio's aubergine parmigiana (and if you don't, it's only because you haven't tried it yet), you can visit this Pasta Mito website to order yourself up a dish for delivery. They've also got pizzas, transalpine cold cuts, authentic burrata, plenty of gorgeous dishes (wild-mushroom lasagne, pasta stuffed with goat's cheese and figs...), and of course, an unforgettable tiramisu.

To get these delectable delights delivered (order by calling 91 617 12 72 or via Deliveroo), you'll need to get a minimum of ten, and they come in packs of five, one flavour each pack. Which are you hankering for? Ají de gallina (chicken with yellow peppers and spices), lamb with spicy Mapuche merkén, roquefort with celery, sautéed veal, wild mushroom with truffle, aubergine... Plus, you can order yours frozen so you can make them when and how you want, either baked in the oven or fried.

This popular chain of bakeries has taken to online sales, which means that all its products, which number more than a hundred, will be even more accessible (for the moment only on the Peninsula). You don't have to leave the house to sink your teeth into the little bits of heaven that are their 'pain au chocolat' and their muffins. And don't forget your daily bread, whether that for you means a loaf or a roll or an order of empanadas. Their promise is that your order will arrive at your door in perfect condition within 24 to 48 hours.
