The Metropolitan Museum of Art is celebrating the holiday with a day full of performances, activities and storytelling—and the Sesame Street Puppeteers!

  • Lunar New Year Parade in the Great Hall (11-11:30am)
  • Sesame Street Puppeteers  (11:10-11:40am, 12-12:30pm)
  • Performances by the Long Island Lion Troupe, dancers from the New York Chinese Cultural Center and drummers from New York Korean Performing Arts Center (1:30-4:45pm)
  • Artist Vincent Chong writes in gold calligraphy while soaring in high heels. (12-4:15 pm)
  • Animal Trainer Lydia DesRoche introduces her furry pals the Hero Rats (11:30am-5pm)

Go to the Zodiac Zones to discover more about your birth sign, make Fierce Dragon Creations, join in the communal paper feast with artist Emily Mock, make a paper lantern, enjoy freshly-made bubble tea from Ten Ren Tea and Ginseng Co. at the Wu-Wo Tea Ceremony & Bubble Tea Gatherings, watch a hand-pulled noodle demonstration, sketch zodiacal animals at the Celestial Drawing Station, learn from master calligrapher Zhou Bin, transform yourself into a cunning rat by making a costume at Daring Disguise, create a drum at Den-den Daiko Drum Making and emboss a plaque at Metal Mouse Masterpieces. All ages.
