Time Out says

PAL Playstreets returns for another season of street play and exercise in 15 public areas around the city. For seven weeks each summer, the Police Athletic League closes streets in areas typically battling crime and poverty to vehicular traffic so kids ages 6–16 can get outdoors to play, run and hang out with friends in a safe environment. Athletic equipment and games are provided as well as arts and craft activities, including tie-dying, mosaics and making bracelets. Varsity coaches and college assistant coaches will be on hand to offer Basketball Clinics. This is also a chance for kids to interact with their local NYPD officers and elected officials. At the end of the summer season, the program hosts a Borough Day, a free celebration in a public park in each of the five boroughs where families can eat and play. For a full list of locations, visit PAL NYCAges 6–16.
