MF Gallery
This art house curates exhibitions displaying a "pop aesthetic with a grotesque twist," according to co-owner Martina Secondo Russo. Its current show, "B-Horror," is an ode to low-budget slasher films, featuring mixed-media works and paintings that are at once exuberant and nightmarish. Among the eerie pieces you'll peep are a sinister felt sculpture by Nathaniel Groppe and haunting pen-and-ink drawings by Dan Scheckler. To kick off a new exhibit in July, the gallery is planning one of its signature outlandish parties; past openings have featured a zombie-makeup artist and free drinks for costumed tipplers. 213 Bond St between Baltic and Butler Sts, Gowanus, Brooklyn (917-446-8681). Times vary, call for appointment.
