As NYC ramps up for Gay Pride this week, the calls to action are coming out of the woodwork. A petition to install rainbow-colored crosswalks in NYC has been circulating online recently, and we're really hoping it comes into fruition.
After successful petitions led to the installation of permanent rainbow crosswalks in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, this new one aims to establish technicolored walking grounds near the Stonewall Inn and throughout Chelsea. The petition has already accrued more than 18,000 signatures.
I'll be delighted to see rainbow crosswalks in the West Village, sure, but how about in my neighborhood of Crown Heights? That's something I'd really like to witness.
