A stunning triangular glass building is coming to Brooklyn

One of Brooklyn's busiest intersections is getting a major upgrade.

The building at 182 Flatbush Avenue, which is located across the street from the Barclays Center and was the longtime home of Triangle Sports, is being razed and replaced with a modern, all-glass structure, according RedSky Capital, the location's developer. The company bought the property in 2014, which is wedged in a triangle at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Dean Street.

The new structure will retain the triangular shape of the Triangle Sports building but will don a spruced up design that is a major departure from the space that housed the business for nearly a century. RedSky still needs to file plans for the intersection, according to Curbed, so the glossy addition is not yet a sure thing.

When construction of the Barclays Center wrapped up in 2012, a rapid transformation of the surrounding area quickly followed. Now, the area has one of the city's fanciest movie theaters, a sprawling food hall and a Shake Shack. For better or for worse, Brooklynites can soon add a shiny, triangular glass building to that list.
