Check out these plans for a Bring Your Own Dog café in Brooklyn

A dog-friendly restaurant where you "B.Y.O.D.: Bring your own dog" could soon be a reality.

A Kickstarter from organizers Verena Erhart and Lauren Hanlon seeks to raise $35,000 to open a cafe near Prospect Park where the many dog-owners of NYC and their pups will feel right at home. They'll serve vegetarian meals, coffee, craft beer and a wine list for humans, as well as treats for dogs. Humans not accompanied by dogs are also welcome.

If you're wondering how they'll get around health department laws restricting dogs from eateries, here's their explanation:

Although service dogs are permitted in a food establishment in NYC, other pets are not; however, there is nothing that says a food establishment can't operate right next to a "puppy paradise." To remain compliant with these laws, we are being creative with how to construct and operate a single concept utilizing two adjacent spaces. Food and drinks will be prepared on one "side" but can be consumed in the company of your dog on the other "side." There will be a small division of the spaces that will satisfy the Department of Health, and will allow us to operate within these regulations.

Let's all raise a bark to more spaces we can hang out with our pets.
