If you’ve read up on all the incredible things to do at Governors Island during the warmer months, then you already know the car-free oasis is the place to be this summer. Apart from a bevy of sensational events held on the island (i.e. Jazz Age Lawn Party), the Trust for GI recently opened an awesome adventures course and, now, there will be a brand-new concert series starting this month.

The music lineup is organized by event and promotions company RPM Presents, which is taking over six acres of Governors Island for the concert series dubbed HRBR Project.

The first event—an inaugural dance party—kicks off June 17 with electronic music overlord DJ Hardwell. Prepare to work up a sweat while you do some serious rump shaking.

On June 18, techno producer and DJ Carl Cox runs the show. Fourth of July weekend will be particularly exciting: Electronic grandmaster Richie Hawtin, house music star Maceo Plex and Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann perform with several other DJs on July 2.

Body & SOUL plans to host a massive reunion on July 3 with three of the world’s best spinners: Sacred Rhythm’s Joe Claussell, Deep Space’s François K and 718 Session’s Danny Krivit. And Tiësto takes over on Independence Day. For more news on upcoming acts and how to get tickets, check out rpmpresents.com.
