It’s free to rent this new giant photo studio in NYC

If you’ve ever had trouble cropping your messy bedroom out of photos or fitting all five of your BFFs into a tiny photo booth, this new studio will save you. Open Studio is a completely free studio on 27th Street where NYC photographers can stage photo shoots without shelling out big bucks for rental space. (You only pay the $250 deposit if you cancel within 72 hours of your session.)

It’s the brainchild of one of our favorite Instagram editing apps, VSCO, and it’s located at the company's NYC offices. You have to bring your own camera, but there's a cyclorama wall and lighting equipment available to use.

You have to prove your work is worthy of a photography gallery first, though. Apply online for a maximum-two-hour slot through the online form, which also asks for information on your project, why it’s important and for sample images you have of it.

In just one day, the schedule completely filled up, but you can sign up for updates on the site—it’s also hoping to add new studio locations in the near future.
