The Village Halloween Parade is a pretty big deal, but if you ask us, the most important costume procession of the spooky season is none other than the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade. Adorable puppies in costume? BEST. DAY. EVER.

RECOMMENDED: Halloween NYC guide

If you shriek with glee whenever you spot stylishly clad pups on the sidewalk, get ready to wail over loads of four-legged friends dressed as remarkably elaborate ghouls and pop-culture references at this annual pooch parade. You can turn up sans dog, or enter your furry companion in the costume contest for a chance to win thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes.

Best of all, you don’t need to pre-register. Just show up with your loyal canine, and get ready to have a great time. Can’t make it this year? We’ll be there to capture this year’s cute-fest for you. Make sure to check out all the other awesome Halloween events coming up.

E 7th St to E 8th St between Aves A and B (212-639-9675, tompkinssquaredogrun.com). Noon–3pm; free–$5 suggested donation.
