If you've been wondering what Taran Killam would be up to after leaving Saturday Night Live this season, wonder no more. Starting January 17, the versatile comic actor will assume the role of mad (and angry) King George III in a little Broadway musical you may have heard about called Hamilton. The role seems like a good fit for Killam, whose most memorable recurring character on SNL may well have been 19th-century newspaper critic and furious dandy Jebidiah Atkinson, and who showed off convincing musical-theater chops as sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello in the 2015 Encores! concert revival of Little Shop of Horrors.

The down side? We bet it'll be hard to get tickets to Hamilton now! But, as always, you can take a shot at winning cheap seats through the online Hamilton lottery.

In related Hamilton casting news, J. Quinton Johnson will take over as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison on January 6, following the departure of Okieriete Onaodowan on December 24. This represents something of a milestone for the show: Aside from Javier Muñoz, who began as the Alexander Hamilton alternate and now plays the role at most performances, Onaodowan is the last of the show's original principals still in the production.
