'Tis the season for holiday freebies—complimentary cocoa here, a rogue peppermint latte there—but here's one that feels especially on-brand for a city running on sugar and seasonal cheer.
On December 4, Milk Bar is teaming up with McCormick to give away free Eggnog English Toffee Cookies at two Manhattan locations, in honor of National Cookie Day. The first 100 customers at Milk Bar's flagship (Broadway and 29th Street) and its West Village shop (74 Christopher Street) will each score one of the limited-edition treats. Doors open at 10am in Nomad and 11am in the West Village. Once they're gone, they're gone, so consider this a perfect excuse to schedule an early-morning "meeting" near one of the two shops.
The cookie itself is a mash-up from McCormick and Christina Tosi, the founder of Milk Bar and undisputed reigning queen of nostalgic sweets. Think holiday eggnog, but in chewable form, then swirled with English toffee and holiday spice. If you can’t make the giveaway, don’t panic: the cookie will officially go on sale November 28 and will stick around through the end of the year
If you’re an overachiever, you’re in for an extra surprise. McCormick is also running a one-night, reservation-only speakeasy experience on December 4 called “The Cookie Confidential,” where guests will learn how to turn a cookie into a cocktail (or mocktail) with the help of the spice giant’s flavor geniuses. The reservations for the class drop on December 1 and will likely disappear faster than a batch of Compost Cookies.
If you’d rather DIY your own stash for that holiday cookie swap, McCormick plans to release the recipe online so bakers can re-create the magic at home. It’s not quite the same as receiving a cookie for simply existing, but close.
