The Brooklyn Nets are digging into their archives—and Brooklyn’s cultural DNA—by bringing back one of their most famous looks: the Notorious B.I.G.-inspired “Brooklyn Camo” uniforms. First launched in 2018, the City Edition jerseys feature a trim of colorful, Coogi-style stripes and a Bed-Stuy patch designed by local artist Eric Haze, paying homage to the borough and Biggie’s home turf. The uniforms practically sold out the moment they dropped the first time around and now they’re set for a second act.

The revival is part of the NBA’s league-wide City Edition Remix, where each team dusts off a past fan favorite. For Brooklyn, the choice was obvious. “The Notorious B.I.G. embodies the relentless hustle, unfiltered authenticity, and audacious creativity that continue to define this borough,” said Andrew Karson, executive vice-president of sports and marketing at Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment. “Celebrating his legacy through our uniforms allows us to share his story with a new generation of fans.”

Players will debut the jerseys at a September 27 public practice in Bed-Stuy’s Potomac Playground—steps from where Biggie grew up—before rocking them at 11 games this season, including eight at Barclays Center. To go along with the uniforms, the Nets are going all in with Biggie Nights, complete with themed entertainment, giveaways, and a special Biggie-inspired court. The first one, on Nov. 11, will hand out Biggie bobbleheads and feature a halftime performance yet to be revealed.

“You can’t talk about Brooklyn without invoking the sentiment ‘Spread Love the Brooklyn Way,’” said Elliot Osagie, CEO of Benin City Entertainment, which manages Biggie’s brand. “The Notorious B.I.G. repped Brooklyn to the fullest and had a resounding effect on everyone who calls Brooklyn home. His influence is unmatched, and it is an immense privilege to honor Biggie and his legacy as one of the most influential cultural icons of all time.”

The Nets aren’t strangers to artist tie-ins: Past jerseys have nodded to Jean-Michel Basquiat and KAWS. But Biggie’s return hits different—an underdog team lacing up in a design that’s already crossed over into pop culture, spotted on TV shows and on fans far outside the borough. Whether this season ends with a playoff run or just some classic Brooklyn grit, the Nets are guaranteed to look fresh doing it.
