Thai food hits all five tastebuds: sweet and salty, sour and bitter, and, of course, umami. Get a taste of all of them at this Thai takeover in Brooklyn this month.
This month, Dumbo's Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD) is the celebrating AAPI Month by hosting Thai Takeover. Held on Thursday, May 29th, the happy hour event will feature a litany of local Thai chefs and makers as they explore the cuisine across the diaspora. Guests can nosh on laab pockets from Kasey Coffey (@fishsauceinmybag), plus bites from Brooklyn's KRU and Thai-based food company, S. Khonkaen Foods USA Inc. As for libations, Group B Beer will be pouring craft brews straight from Thailand. And if you need something to cool your tastebuds, Austin Wu of Very Cool Ice Cream will be onsite, scooping vegan, Asian-inspired ice cream (fingers crossed for the Pineapple Cake flavor). Food writer, Thai historian and baker Ali Domrongchai will be hosting a luk chup (or Thai marizpan) demo while Pink Salt Kitchens will host a Flavor Brain Wave Bloom experience.
Tickets are $20 and include admission to the museum's current exhibit, "Flavor: The World to Your Brain." Buy your tickets here.
