New York City is a tough place to find an apartment, as we all know. Everyone panics that they aren’t getting enough for their money, which is why we’re taking a weekly look at what you can get in this town for around $1,000 per person (and we promise there’ll be no nightmare apartment listing). No one wants to end up in the world’s most depressing apartment (and equally, not everyone has the cash to get the kind of place Obama could afford to rent if he moves to New York), so take a look at these attractive, spacious places—but do it quickly, because these will be gone before you know it. Come back next week for more of our top picks from real-estate site Zumper’s inventory.

And if you’re still struggling, try our NYC apartments guide.

Myrtle Ave #1

Four-bedroom in Clinton Hill, $4,195/month ($1,049 per person)

In case you've been living under a rock (in which case you definitely need to move), Clinton Hill is blowing up. Go where all the cool kids are by nabbing this share-friendly (read: two bathrooms) prewar space. Along with tons of sunlight, a new kitchen with a dishwasher, and loads of exposed brick, there's a whole extra room behind a set of French doors. An EXTRA ROOM, people. And you thought your dream of a crafting space/rec room/library had to wait until you moved to the suburbs.

135 Malcolm X Blvd #2

Three-bedroom in Bed-Stuy, $2,400/month ($800 per person)

If the $800 rent isn't enough to convince you (and it should be, are you crazy?), this bright and sunny Bed-Stuy spot should win you over with its freshly renovated kitchen, two marble bathrooms, giant windows and ballroom-worthy hardwood floors. The only drawback: You and your roommates will probably need to have a Hunger Games–style deathmatch to determine who gets the master suite and their own bathroom.

Adam Clayton Powell Junior Blvd & West 137th St #16

Four-bedroom in Harlem, $3,500/month ($875 per person)

Live in Manhattan for under 900 bucks? It ain't just a pipe dream! You and three pals can have your run of this renovated Harlem spot in an elevator building, which features a cool, semi-open granite kitchen with a dishwasher, awesome natural light, hardwood floors, high ceilings and on-site laundry. We're not mad at the proximity to Yankees games, either.

Powers St #2B

Four-bedroom in Williamsburg, $4,199/month ($1,049 per person)

Yes, you can live in the 'Burg for not-totally-outrageous prices, as this adorable abode proves. Okay, so it's technically "East Williamsburg" but hey, we'd call the distance from all that Bedford craziness a bonus. You're still smack in the middle of a ton of great restaurants and bars, and a mere two blocks from the L. Top that off with a gut-renovated space and new appliances (including, yes, a washer/dryer) and what appears to be a cute little backyard? Sign us up.

William St & Wall St

Three-bedroom in the Financial District, $3,620/month ($1,206 per person)

Holy amenities, Batman! This FiDi hotel residential building boasts a roof deck, concierge, fitness room, complimentary breakfast, garage and "luxury lounge" (we don't know what it means, but we're imagining leather couches). Not to mention the apartment itself features windows galore, an in-unit washer/dryer, gorgeous hardwood floors and a marble-tiled bathroom. Can a "charming" brownstone flat give you all that? Didn't think so.
