What is the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show?

Every year, the spectacular show launches 60,000 shells off of barges in the river. The extravaganza typically lasts 25 minutes and features numerous effects in 30 colors and shapes.

"This year’s Fireworks will feature never-before-seen effects created for Macy’s, special surprise and delight moments and an exciting musical score of summer’s greatest hits, inspiring our audience nationwide," Will Coss, executive producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, said in a press release.

For this year, expect to see a silver cascading burst, a never-before-seen firework that will create a center kaleidoscope and alternating red and blue as it fills the sky. Additional effects including cross rings, strobing comets, waterfalls, Saturn circles, crackling pistils and special ghost pyro that alternates colors featuring multiple hues.

The team at Macy's Studios works with Pyro Spectaculars by Souza to come up with creative ways to decorate the night sky and awe spectators.
