Olemme halunneet pitÀÀ kattauksemme monipuolisena. Mukana on kokeilevien keittiömestarien kiehtovia uutuuksia, takuuvarmoja klassikkoja, etnisten keittiöiden parhaimmistoa mutta myös paikkoja, joissa syö edullisesti mieltÀ lÀmmittÀvÀÀ kotiruokaa. Valinnoissamme olemme painottaneet hintaâlaatusuhdetta. Se ei tarkoita sitĂ€, ettĂ€ ravintolan tĂ€ytyy olla halpa (monet parhaista eivĂ€t ole), vaan sitĂ€, ettĂ€ laskun maksettuaan tuntuu siltĂ€, ettĂ€ kokemus oli todellakin hintansa arvoinen.Â

Here are our answers. These are the places we return to again and again, and the ones we recommend to our friends. Our list of 20 includes just a small selection of Helsinkiâs best restaurants â many wonderful spots didnât make the cut.
Weâve kept the line-up varied: youâll find innovative newcomers from daring chefs, tried-and-true classics, the best of the cityâs international cuisines and a few places serving simple, heartwarming comfort food. Whatever the occasion, youâll find the right restaurant here.
In our selection, weâve focused on value for money. That doesnât mean cheap â many of the best arenât â but rather that, when the bill arrives, you feel every euro was worth it.
What all our favourites share is that they leave a lasting impression and a smile long after youâve left the table.

How we choose: The Time Out Helsinki team eats their way through the city â without
Helsinki isnât exactly a promised land for fish restaurants. You can, of course, get fish and seafood at almost any restaurant, but only a handful truly specialise in them. Boulevard Bar & Seafood is one of that select few. Where the cityâs classic fish restaurant Merimakasiini leans on tradition, Boulevard Bar & Seafood feels youthful in atmosphere.
We headed to Boulevard Bar & Seafood on a Saturday afternoon at 15:30. Itâs not exactly prime time, but a perfect moment to pause before the evening buzz takes over the city. Besides, earlier that same week it had been impossible to book a table for the best dinner slot.
Late afternoon turned out to be an excellent choice. There were only a few parties in the dining room, so there was peace and plenty of space to breathe.
And best of all: on Saturdays between 15:00 and 17:00, Boulevard runs its Oyster Club, when Pacific oysters are priced at three euros each. Itâs the kind of offer that makes any seafood loverâs heart beat faster. One small minus point: the oysters had been shucked before they arrived at the table. I would have liked that little ritual where freshness is proven right in front of your eyes.

My companion started with a cocktail classic, an Old Fashioned. Exactly what it should be: precise, balanced, reliably good.
I opted for the non-alcoholic Fig Paloma, which came as a complete surprise. The salty, limey rim of the glass
Suuntasimme Boulevard Bar & Seafoodiin lauantai-iltapĂ€ivĂ€, kello 15:30. Se ei tietysti ole mikÀÀn prime time, mutta juuri sopiva hetki hengĂ€htÀÀ ennen kaupungin iltahumua. SitĂ€ paitsi samalla viikolla oli mahdotonta saada varattua pöytÀÀ parhaaseen illallisaikaan.Â
MyöhÀinen iltapÀivÀ osoittautui erinomaiseksi valinnaksi: salissa oli vasta muutama seurue, joten rauhaa riitti ja tilaa hengittÀÀ.
Ja mikĂ€ parasta: lauantaisin kello 15â17 Boulevardilla pyörĂ€htÀÀ kĂ€yntiin ravintolan Oyster Club, jolloin Tyynenmeren ostereita saa kolmella eurolla kappale. Se on tarjous, joka saa merenelĂ€vien ystĂ€vĂ€n sydĂ€men sykkimÀÀn. Pieni miinus: osterit oli irrotettu ennen pöytÀÀn tuomista. Olisin kaivannut sitĂ€ pientĂ€ rituaalia, jossa tuoreus todistetaan silmien edessĂ€.
