If you've ever been frustrated at the lack of drinking options past midnight or 1am in Singapore, here's some good news – 4am liquor hours across Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, and Upper Circular Road are officially here to stay.

The government has formalised its year-long revitalisation trial, cementing permanent 4am liquor permits and regular Circular Road street closures starting today (August 18).

The good news for partygoers is that the precinct's nightlife is set to grow even bigger. During the initial trial alone, authorities approved 37 new nightlife concepts along the Boat Quay Waterfront, Circular Road, Lorong Telok, and Canton Street, alongside 92 extended liquor licenses across the area. Bars and venues can continue to submit applications to extend liquor trading hours.

Government agencies also confirmed that law and order remained stable throughout the pilot thanks to stepped-up security patrols and cooperation from venues, which helped pave the way for measures to be locked in for the long term.

While extended drinking hours apply specifically to Thursday and Friday nights, road closures along Circular Road will resume on selected weekends and during events, forming a car-free enclave for pedestrian-friendly activities.
