And other whacky creations that can only be conceived by the one and only Bjorn Shen

It’s going to take more than a circuit breaker to stop Bjorn Shen from coming up with crazy ideas. The man behind popular Middle Eastern eatery Artichoke, and more recently, the one-man pizzeria, Small’s, has recently launched a take-out and delivery menu packed with larger than life flavours to make your meals at home more colourful.

For starters, you can look forward to the massive Whole Hoagie ($80). Weighing in at 2.1kg, or the equivalent of nine Big Macs, this thicc creation takes cues from the massive sandwiches consumed by Jughead Jones in the Archie Comics series. The menu’s theme rotates weekly – from May 13 to 17, it features a Vietnamese-inspired spread headlined by a half metre long, banh mi-inspired number. The cold-pressed sammy comes overflowing with goodies of lemongrass barbecue pork, baloney, pickles, vegetables, sweet mayonnaise, coriander and scallions. You’ll also find tropical inspiration in its sweet treats too, from the pineapple jackfruit donut ($5 for one, $25 for six) to a luscious chocolate pudding ($6) topped with coconut cream and banana.

If its variety you’re after, consider the Deli Dinner for Two ($80). It comes with a downsized version of the hoagie (two 300g servings), a donut and pudding, as well as additions of chicken broth, potato salad with fried cauliflower and fish sauce caramel, Vietnamese tofu slaw, and a lychee cooler with lemongrass jelly.

Prior to this, Artichoke ran an American Diner-themed menu complete with a three-meat hoagie, cherry pie donut, and golden chicken minestrone. Wondering what other tricks Bjorn has planned for the coming week? The new menu is released every Monday – so its best to stay updated through Artichoke’s Facebook or Instagram.
