Fans of J-pop will have heard about Atarashii Gakko!, a new generation female group that subverts the stereotypical image of a girl group. Atarashii Gakko! will be embarking on their world tour, and beginning their Asia leg in Bangkok, followed by Hong Kong, Taipei, and Singapore.

Atarashii Gakko!, translated to “new school” in Japanese, defies the typical girl group image by sporting sailor uniforms with long skirts and pulled-up socks, similar to the style of Japanese students from the 70s and 80s. Their music breaks away from the conventional hyper-pop themes, instead blending modern J-pop with elements of rap, punk, and Showa-era kayokyoku. The group also choreographs their own dances, infusing Japanese butoh dance, heavy metal headbanging, and street dancing to create bold and expressive movements that have been captivating audiences.

The group will be performing in Singapore at The Theatre at Mediacorp on June 29, 2024. To purchase tickets, you can sign up for Live Nation’s free membership and gain access to the exclusive presale happening on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 2pm to 11.59pm. The general sale will be available from March 22, 2024, from 2pm onwards via Ticketmaster
