Tiffany & Co.'s iconic Blue Box Café opens in Ion Orchard on July 15

You can now not only enjoy breakfast, but also burgers and even chicken rice at Tiffany's. Luxury jeweller Tiffany & Co.'s famed Blue Box Café has finally landed in sunny Singapore, the first in Southeast Asia, located on the third floor of its flagship outlet in Ion Orchard. This highly anticipated arrival is almost 10 years in the making, beginning from the first Blue Box Café which opened in New York in 2017, to its most recent debuts in Tokyo and Hong Kong.
Needless to say, the interiors at Blue Box Café Singapore are clad in the brand's signature colour, Tiffany blue. Mirrored ceilings create an illusion of an endless sea of Tiffany boxes – the stuff dreams are made of – and the details trickle down to the upholstery, art-lined walls and gleaming, reflective surfaces that light up the room in a luminous glow. Every corner is a photo op.
And the food makes up part of the set design. The Maison has collaborated with renowned chef Julien Royer (of three-Michelin-starred Odette) on a menu that is anchored in French cuisine, with American and Asian influences. First up, Breakfast at Tiffany's, of course. At $78 per person and served between 10am to 11.30am, this must be the most sophisticated breakfast spread on the island. Luxurious fixings of Maison Beillevaire butter, smoked trout with crème fraiche, soft-boiled Oita eggs crowned with Oscietra caviar, and a whole range of dainty viennoiserie, presented on a two-tiered silver stand.
There is a more economical option that still checks the boxes. Holly's Favourites ($38 per person), named after the female lead Holly Golightly in the 1961 Breakfast at Tiffany's, has just the classics – pastries, baguette with butter, a choice of beverage and fresh juice. Pearls, black dress and gloves not included.
We'd imagine the afternoon tea set to be as popular. Tea at Tiffany's ($98 per person) fits perfectly into any girl's day itinerary. A three-tiered stand lined with delicate tea sandwiches, patisseries and gateaux is the ultimate elegant showpiece, complete with your choice of tea, coffee or a soft drink. We recommend the Blue Box Café Original Blend ($12 per pot), unique to each Blue Box Café location in the world. The Singapore outlet serves a soothing, fragrant blend of black tea infused with rose lavender and vanilla.
Stopping by for lunch or dinner? There is an all-day menu available, and while it might not have the widest variety, the selection is focused and intentional. Dishes like the heirloom beetroots ($28) and confit yellow chicken ($48) best capture Chef Julien's flair. The former is a layered salad of salt-roasted beetroots with crunchy almond crumbs, goat's cheese and arugula oil, while the latter is a take on Hainanese chicken rice, with crispy Niigata rice mixed in with chicken skin as the highlight.
No Blue Box Café would be complete without the namesake Tiffany Burger ($34), a nod to the brand's Manhattan roots. Sink your teeth into soft potato brioche buns, a Black Angus beef patty finished medium-rare, and a house-made sauce that envelops each bite. The sauce and melted cheddar cheese do most of the heavy lifting, while the patty would benefit from more seasoning and time on the grill. Those fries, though, are perfectly crispy and golden-brown with the skin on, just the way we like them.
Desserts definitely lean sweet and decadent. SniX ($22) marries two of Chef Julien's favourite American chocolate bars – Snickers and Twix – in a peanut butter-rich creation that oozes with salted caramel. Meanwhile, Tiffany Island ($22) recreates the traditional French Île Flottante with a generous serving of meringue and vanilla cream atop a pool of orange blossom water.
Time Out's rating: 4/5
It's no secret that you're paying for more than just a meal here. The setting plays a big part: the Tiffany blue interiors, service, and sheer novelty of dining inside one of the jewellery world's most iconic brands. If you plan on visiting just once, prioritise the signature experiences like Breakfast at Tiffany's or the afternoon tea. The food is polished and thoughtfully executed – as expected from Chef Julien – though main dishes like the confit chicken and Tiffany Burger don't quite justify the price tag based on flavour alone.
While Blue Box Café isn't the place to satisfy your chicken rice or burger cravings, if you've ever dreamed of having breakfast at Tiffany's, this is about as close as it gets on this side of the world.
