Bugis Street's revamped Level 2 is filled with thrifting, workshops and local brands

Bugis Street is a shopping hotspot that has been around for ages. Now, it is getting a fresh lease of life with a completely reimagined Level 2, transforming rows of retail shops into a lifestyle playground filled with local brands, workshops and creator spaces.

Anchoring the refreshed Level 2 is Somewhere @ Bugis Street, a new concept from Invade, the team behind Artbox and Fleawhere. The new space combines curated thrift shopping, indie brands and creative hangouts, with everything from podcast rooms and creator studios to interactive spaces, turntables and a lounge. 

Apart from this section, the rest of Level 2 has also welcomed a fresh crop of homegrown names. Ruby Merlot opens its first-ever physical store, where you can browse its signature journals and bags before staying on for junk journaling sessions and community workshops. Creamie Sippies, best known as Singapore's first matcha mill café, is debuting a customisable banana pudding bar that lets you pile on toppings, sauces and mini drinks to your heart's content.

If your idea of retail therapy involves getting crafty, White Pixies claims Singapore's first dedicated Candle Bar, offering workshops where you can pour your own candles, craft perfume balm charms and experiment with fragrances. Meanwhile, Standard Photo Studio gives the humble photo booth a glow-up with four themed self-shoot rooms – including one inspired by a local hawker centre – and a station where you can turn your snapshots into beaded photo keychains.

There's more on the way, too. Bugis Street has confirmed that Myth Jinn Escape Room will soon open its first Singapore outpost, while Xcape Singapore is expanding with brand-new escape room experiences.

On weekends, the space expands into a bustling creators' market, where around 40 vendors offer a mix of pre-loved fashion, handcrafted accessories, collectibles and other unique finds.

Most of the new Level 2 stores operate daily from 11am to 10pm while Somewhere @ Bugis Street opens from 1pm daily.
