If you’ve been out and about lately, you might have seen a giant box appear in the middle of Clarke Quay, with a ginger cat’s butt sticking out of it. A week later, this was revealed to be the tushy of none other than Mofusand. This Japanese cartoon character has since risen to cult status, with even Singapore’s Starbucks and KFC launching collaborations that got swiped up in an instant.

This eight-metre Mofusand installation – surrounded by 25 other adorable cats from various Mofusand series, including Board Shark, Fruit Meow, and Coffee and Donuts – was the centre of attention at CQ for just one day before moving on to Westgate for another single-day surprise appearance. But there’s still a final chance to catch a glimpse of this cat pack. The clowder of kitties is soon moving on to its final location at Plaza Singapura, only on October 29.

Why the fanfare? We’re letting the cat out of the bag: Turns out, this is all a lead-up to Southeast Asia’s first-ever Mofusand-themed Christmas showcase, done in collaboration with CapitaLand Malls, and it’s going to be a kawaii affair on a massive scale.

So don’t throw a hissy fit just yet if you aren’t able to be at Dhoby Ghaut mall on the 29th. Take heart in knowing that there will be even more feline fun rolled out across a whopping 17 CapitaLand malls from November 5 onwards – including a whole Mofusand Town popping up at Bugis Junction. Gear up for cutesy photo spots and exclusive merchandise, including plenty of blind boxes that will test your willpower in self-restraint.
