Amidst a slate of saddening F&B closures in Singapore comes a piece of good news worth raising a glass to. Beloved watering hole Wala Wala Café Bar – which has been around for over three decades – is now staying put at its Holland Village home instead of bowing out.

The popular nightlife spot was initially set to close for good before the end of 2025, citing an uphill challenge of sustaining its operations. But thanks to a tweak in lease policy by its landlord, and an outpouring of support from its loyal longtime customers, Wala Wala will continue to welcome guests at its current digs for the foreseeable future.

An official announcement on this was posted on Wala Wala’s Instagram page on August 26, thanking its patrons for all the love and crediting the “generosity and understanding of [its] landlord, who has kindly offered revised terms that make it feasible for [it] to stay”.

“It is also because of you – our patrons – whose encouragement gave us reason to believe the story is not yet over. We now know that Wala Wala  continues to hold meaning – not just as a venue, but as a gathering place, a shared memory and a part of the village’s heartbeat,” part of the heartfelt post states.

Cheers to more nights of happy hour pints, live sports screenings and pizza-fuelled hangouts at this Lorong Mambong bar.
