How was it like making your own homemade IKEA meatballs during the 'circuit breaker'? If you did a great job, good on you! If not, you don't have to wait long to have some – IKEA Singapore is reopening its restaurants to the public on Monday, June 29. Get reacquainted with menu favourites like chicken wings, daim cake, salmon lasagna and of course, the iconic meatballs with gravy and a dollop of lingonberry jam.

The two IKEA megastores in Tampines and Alexandra reopened for shoppers when Singapore entered Phase 2. Even then the restaurants, food operations and children's play arena remained shut due to strict safety measures. To keep loyal customers happy, IKEA also launched an online sale for the month of June which saw exclusive deals and a weekday flash sale. Since then, the Swedish Food Market and Bistro have gradually reopened – but småland will remain closed until further notice.

Safety protocols will be implemented like the standard temperature screenings and limiting crowd capacity. On top of that, a selected menu will be provided, condiment stations and Bistro dining areas will be closed so as to not encourage crowding. Masks – as always – are mandatory, except when eating or drinking. Meatballs on Monday, anyone?
