Mooncake kiosks are popping up in malls and brightly coloured lanterns are dotting the streets in preparation for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Other than strolling through Lights by the Lake at Jurong Lake Gardens, make a beeline for Gardens by the Bay, which is once again illuminated with the glow of its annual Mid-Autumn light-up.

This year’s lantern displays at Gardens by the Bay’s public areas feature Ang Ku Kueh Girl, a character created by local artist Wang Shijia. Join her and her snack-inspired friends through different zones themed after scenes of Singapore – from an aisle of coconut trees leading to kampung houses, to neighbourhood playgrounds, and a mama shop surrounded by supersized versions of traditional snacks like haw flakes and iced gem biscuits. Of course, classic Mid-Autumn icons, such as fish-shaped lanterns and butterfly-decorated arches, are also part of the spectacle.

Not to worry about hungry tummies as there will be a food street at the Supertree Grove with skewered snacks, kacang puteh, and local kueh, which you can munch on while watching a free live show – Chinese dance showcases and multi-ethnic music performances are some examples. Round up the cultural immersion with one of many free and ticketed craft workshops, where you’ll learn how to make your own lantern, hanging ornament, or woven bamboo art piece. Chinese tea appreciation sessions are also available.

If you’re coming on the exact date of the Mid-Autumn Festival itself on October 6, claim a free lantern to help further light up the trail as you explore along.
Mid-Autumn festivities at Gardens by the Bay are happening nightly until October 12, 2025, from 6pm to 10pm. Find out more here. While you’re there, check out the United Buddy Bears exhibition, another free-entry highlight that’s happening at GBTB during the same period.
