You can also visit a tea room and purchase kebayas at The Peranakan Club

There's a brand new spot in Singapore to immerse yourself in Peranakan culture, and it's located at the unlikeliest of locations: the notorious Orchard Towers. Spanning 5,000 square feet, The Peranakan Club (TPC) is a six-in-one concept housing a gallery, restaurant, private dining room, bar, tea lounge and retail store, located on the second floor of the mall. In recent years, the former nightlife hub has been undergoing a refresh, welcoming new businesses and restaurants. Business owner and former chef Raymond Khoo, who is himself a Baba, is behind the curation of TPC. Here's what to expect.
A kaleidoscope of colours greets you as you walk in, from walls plastered with peony motifs and keronsongs (traditional brooches), to antiques like wooden bedframes and pingfeng (Chinese folding screens). Even more interesting artefacts await at The Peranakan Gallery, including heirloom wedding costumes and other trinkets and collectables. Guests can even pick up kebayas, keronsongs and lifestyle wares at the Baba Nyonya Atelier.
But the best way to understand a culture is arguably through its food. And The Peranakan Club's four F&B concepts offer just that. Start at The Little Nyonya, an 80-seater casual restaurant named after the iconic Channel 8 period drama of the same name. Here, traditional recipes are the focus, whipped up by Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef Lily Suriani Lim, in the style passed down in the Khoo family. Munch on everything from nasi ulam dulu kala ($24) to buah keluah ($3 per piece), to itek tim or salted vegetable duck soup ($17).
You can also book out the Grand Peranakan, a private dining room, for special occasions. Here, meals are served tok panjang style across a long table, and feature lesser-seen dishes like sambal pisang jantong (banana heart salad) and babi hong (spiced pork). Do note that the prices for this experience are a step higher, starting at $168 per person for the feast. Before dinner commences, guests can also spend a languid afternoon sipping on afternoon tea – or champagne and caviar – at the Keronsong Tea Room, flush with luxurious antique rosewood furniture.
TPC's Kebaya Bar might be the only bar in Singapore dedicated to Peranakan-inspired cocktails and flavours, with drinks like the Puteri Salat and Bak Kwa Pisang Flip. The Kebaya Bar is also a collaboration with local spirits brand Brass Lion Distillery, which was recently named the world's best gin maker in 2025, so you can expect cocktails crafted with best-sellers like the Singapore Dry Gin, butterfly pea gin and the mandarin orange peel and star anise gin.
Psst, you can also use your SG Culture Pass credits on some of TPC's workshops, including the art of soja (a traditional New Year custom of kneeling to elders), nasi ulam or high tea workshops. And if you're keen on tying the knot here, you've got the set-up you need to perform wedding tea ceremonies with traditional outfits and 'dragon-phoenix' chairs.
The Peranakan Club is open from 11am to 10pm daily at 1 Claymore Drive, #02-01 Orchard Towers (Car Park Block), Singapore 229594. Find out more here.
