Zoom back into the origins of fantasy, sci-fi and gaming at The Portals Experience by The Imaginariad, a 13,000 sq ft walk-through immersive experience designed as a multi-realm journey that takes you through different eras while celebrating the authors, artists, and designers behind them.

Running from June 1 to September 2, 2026, the exhibition features more than 300 original artworks, over 10,000 books and miniatures, and eight immersive realms. This will be the world-first presentation of a private collection of original paintings and hand-crafted works from some of the most recognisable speculative fiction universes such as ‘Middle-earth’, ‘Dune’, and ‘Warhammer 40,000’. You’ll be able to witness original book cover artworks created in traditional mediums, including oil, acrylic, and gouache, many of which defined the Golden Age of science fiction and fantasy publishing.

And no, they won’t be prints or replicas – the works will be shown in their original form, including physical canvases behind iconic literary covers as well as hand-painted origins of established role-playing game (RPG) and trading card game (TCG) universes.

There’s a fair bit of sci-fi dabbling in our local creative scene too: look out for a Singapore-exclusive commission titled ‘Future Singapore: 2126’, created by Singapore-based illustrator Kristal Melson. The series comprises three bespoke artworks imagining Singapore 100 years into the future, infusing local cultural references with science fiction and fantasy aesthetics.

The Portals Experience is the flagship project of The Imaginariad, its parent organisation, founded by father-daughter duo Scott and Shona Graham. The organisation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of speculative fiction across literature, art, and gaming. According to Exhibition Director Shona Graham, the experience is designed to “strip away the digital screens and return to what is tactile and real,” noting that in an era of AI-generated imagery and constant digital consumption, handcrafted works offer a distinct sense of permanence and engagement.

Ticket pricing is as follows: children (4 to 12) $17 to $20; adults (13+) $26 to $30; students and seniors $22 to $26; VIP $40, which includes open-entry, skip-the-queue access, and an exclusive goody bag; and Collectors Ultra-VIP $58, which includes open-entry, skip-the-queue access, and an authentic art print signed by the artist. Purchase them here.

Do note that the exhibition carries an Advisory 16 classification due to some nudity and mature fantasy and science fiction themes. Younger visitors are still welcome, with parental discretion advised.
