The creators of Siri House, Moxie and Cudo now bring us an all-new restaurant in Holland Village, cooking up flavours of Latin America and the American South. MyX can be found along the sleepy stretch of Chip Bee Gardens, a quieter area across the road from the main buzz in Holland Village. The stretch is also home to well-frequented cafés like Tiong Bahru Bakery, % Arabica, Baker & Cook and others.

The 70-seater has its interiors nailed down to a tee, with a gorgeous pebble-stoned bar counter, green tiles, warm wooden furnishings and light fixtures that make the textured terracotta walls pop. Behind the main dining hall, the restaurant houses a 32-seat area called The Cabin, fit for events and functions, and a 10-seater booth within that space. It's here where visitors can browse a collection of books at MyX's Lending Library or listen to records at the Vinyl Listening Lounge.

These unique features take the regular dining experience up a notch, transforming the restaurant into a warm, community-centred space where diners can mingle and interact. Both the library and listening lounge work on an honour system as well, where guests are trusted to borrow books and records back home, or even contribute one to the existing collection.

At MyX, diners can look forward to a spread of "comfort food", inspired by Chef Steven Chou's memories of New York's vibrant Latin American community and food, as well as the Southern cuisine he was introduced to during his time working in Houston, Texas. Some highlights on MyX's menu include a marinated artichoke and truffle dip with fried Jerusalem artichokes, salmon tiradito – a spin on the Latin American dish, and beef tartare featuring chopped wagyu with an Ancho chilli dressing and fried plantains.

The meal warms up with entrées like venus clams in a spiced nduja broth with and chipotle oil, crab gratin with smoked cheese sauce, Creole spice and ikura, and the uni cavatelli pasta with scamorza and panchetta, topped with an onsen egg. Then there are the mains: locally-caught seabass dressed with a tomato, olive and caper sauce, and the Dirrrty Chicken Rice, which sees chicken marinated in black pepper, cumin, oregano and citrus before it's roasted till glistening and golden brown. The dish comes with a side of 'dirty rice' with chorizo, bell peppers and a mix of Southern spices.

Latin American and Southern influences trickle down to the desserts, which include interesting picks like the Yuanyang tres leches and kaffir lime pannacotta. In the former, a black tea, espresso and cocoa-infused sponge cake comes topped with vanilla mascarpone, while the pannacotta is paired with kaffir lime, brown butter crumble and cherry compote for a tart finish.

Diners can also pop by for a $26 set lunch – pretty wallet-friendly in comparison to set lunches in similar restaurants – or weekend brunches, where the MyX doles out specials like spiced avocado toast and Cubano sandwiches. Happy hour runs from Tuesdays to Sundays from 3pm to 7pm, and here's when you can score $10 cocktails, $8 beers, 1-for-1 deals and more, while enjoying the golden hour at MyX's sun-soaked patio.

MyX is located at 44 Jalan Merah Saga, #01-46, Singapore 278116. Opening hours are 11.30am to 10.30pm on Tuesdays to Fridays, 11am to 11.30pm on Saturdays, and 11am to 10pm on Sundays.
